Women’s Political Academy, Sri Lanka (WPASL) was established in 2010 with the overall goal of ensuring women’s effective participation in decision making in governance and peace-building efforts in Sri Lanka. The main objective of the academy is to develop leadership abilities among women to ensure their effective participation in decision making in governance and peace building.  

WPASL is committed to building women’s capacity to effectively participate in politics, promoting women’s equal right to representation, enhancing gender justice and democracy at all levels, and to promoting women’s role in peace-building.

WPASL promotes the human rights of women in the formation of new governing paradigms, lobbies for gender-sensitive policy development, calls for legal reforms and challenges patriarchal politics in Sri Lanka.
