POLICY DIALOGUES

Policy dialogue with parliamentarians and political leaders.

WPASL continue to lobby Parliamentarians and leaders of the political parties to develop consensus for legal reforms required to increase women’s participation in politics.

  1. The poster produced responding to the news released by the government re the introduction of amendment to the Local Authorities Elections Act No 1 of 16   was seeking to remove the preferential voting system  opened up a space to request  for introducing quota for women in the nomination process as well as in reserving seats. Posters were sent to all Members of Parliament by post.
  2. A brochure was produced during the Budget 2010 based on Gender Budget Analysis. This brochure was sent to all MPs in Parliament and the Minister of Finance. (please insert the brochure here. I will send separately)

 

  1. Meetings with Secretaries of Political Parties have been requested regularly during this period as LG elections were held in 3 phases to seek increased nomination for women who have attended our Training Programmes
